Noah’s Ark is both a short-term care and a hospice for children and teenagers suffering from serious illnesses or with severe disabilities. The families and relatives of sick or disabled children are frequently on the verge of exhaustion. Temporary respite and the chance to recuperate enables them to regain their strength and look after their dependent offspring more efficiently. In a familiar atmosphere the children and teenagers receive pedagogic mentoring apart from competent care. The focus is on their individual needs. Parallel to that there are discussion groups, individual advice and meetings for parents and brothers and sisters.
The bounties by NORRES were a manifold aid to the children of the institution Noah’s ArkThe promotion group has started work already before the opening of Noah’s Ark. All members work voluntarily. “That way each Cent inures to the benefit of the children directly”, emphasises the chairman of the promotion group Rudolf Heib. “The bounties of NORRES were a great and manifold help to us. In all the years we were able to purchase or co-finance a lot of things by that, e.g. a wheel chair swing, excursions for the children or a petting zoo, which visits the house monthly. In the past two years all rooms of Noah’s Ark have been air-conditioned. In the garden of the facility we have dedicated a meeting point, which is also financed by bounties, last Thursday.”
From stone ashlars and plants has developed a place, which reminds optically of a ship, an ark. The place invites to abidance and backpadalling. Small groups can sing here or read and hear stories. The meeting point also invites to say good bye. Stone tablets carry the names of dead children.
Thanks to the participation of the NORRES employees in the balloon competition € 172.00 came together for Elisabeth Children’s HospitalBefore the founding of the company also the employees have taken an active part to a good intent: in the autumn the employees of NORRES had donated €172 to St. Elisabeth Children’s Hospital. The amount has arisen from the balloon competition which has been organized by the employees at the summer festival. Burkhard Mollen comments on the activities of his employees “The idea of the balloon competition came from the employee as well as the wish to help at the habitat in Gelsenkirchen. Every third child in Gelsenkirchen suffers from poverty and we suggest that we altogether from NORRES can change something. It is nice to see that our employee clan is socially as strong committed as in job-related workaday life.”
St. Elisabeth Children’s Hospital, carried by the catholic Elisabeth beneficence, supports children, teenagers and their families in emergencies with internal and external assisted living groups. The different focal points of that assisted living groups in addition to intensive pedagogic assistance and flexible care support children and teenagers according to the mission statement “learning to live – feeling well.” The donated money is attached to musical advancement. 10 boys and girls from 6 to 15 years have expressed the desire to learn a musical instrument. However the town councils suffer more and more from cost pressure, just the basic needs of the children can be financed. Such special offers can only be advanced by bounties.
